Week 1 Thoughts

A late start…

I meant to launch my blog on a Monday. Two days ago, in fact.

A little about me: I live in the PNW of the United States, I’m in my 40s with my only children being of the furry variety. Yet, I still have a full house with partners and multiple roommates (some are bio family, some close enough to be family, some new family). I’ve been a practicing pagan since 1998 after leaving a rigid, conservative monotheistic upbringing that uplifted those who found true soul solace with that path but never truly aligned with my own spirit. I’ve known I was pansexual since my adolescence, but more recently I’ve begun to wonder all sorts of things about who I am now in my life and how to express myself and my love. I speak openly about mental health, spirituality, and generational healing. I used to hide these things about myself; now, I’m just selective about where I express them.

The children of furry variety in question (of course I had to show my cats off… it’s MY website!)

If you couldn’t tell by the timestamps, Monday’s arrival did NOT arrive. Not because of a lack of desire. No, passion is never my issue. My trouble along with so many others? I can’t keep my shit together once I get it together. You know how it is…

You get a new purse/wallet/gym bag. You organize it BEA-U-TIF-UL-LY, and within a week, it’s looking rough, and a month in? It’s a well-worn addition to the “perpetually exhausted chic” look you’ve been sporting since pre-COVID. Welcome to the club. I’d say we have cookies, but let’s face it, we’re taking part in harder vices these days, folks.

Seasonal living has helped me. I can’t claim it’ll help anybody BUT me, but I’ve had enough folks reach out to me that I’ve decided to compile what I’ve learned all into one place. A space to read about what a seasonal outlook could be for your week and a journal prompt to wrap the week up with. If you want, there are even prayers and meditations to use. I plan to add to this as my own daily practice grows. For me, seasonality and spirituality go hand-in-hand, but you don’t have to be pagan to feel connected to nature’s rhythms.

So far, week 1, I’ve been a hot mess. But it’s Wednesday. If you start your week on Monday like I do and divide all 168 hours of your week in half, the midway point (contrary to Humpday Enthusiasts the world over) is actually Thursday afternoon. I’m not even halfway to the end. I still have a couple days left to meditate. Journal. Take a fifteen minute break in my day to reflect once in awhile.

Tell me how you use these prompts. Let me know in the comments what else you add to your morning practice? Are you a tarot card puller? A candle lighter? A nature walker? A cat brusher? As you contemplate these weekly themes, what rituals do you begin to practice each day?
